Ellery
Prior to launching Ellery in 2007, Kym Ellery, the founder of the brand, worked in the Aussie fashion magazine Russh. Acording to the designer herself, her background in styling has definitely influenced how she created the label. First Ellery started as an evening project. Soon, however, this cutting edge brand became known by everyone. And no wonder why: Ellery has managed to create an outstanding style that everybody is hooked up right now.
In addition to supermodels and opinion leaders in fashion, the brand has gathered a cool following of A-list screen and pop icons such as Rihanna, Cate Blanchett, Solange Knowles and Elle Fanning and many others who are all loyal fans of Ellery's sculptural designs. Ellery's style is described classic, understated, predominantly androgynous, and almost always monochromatic. Seventies inspired tailoring is refreshed with sculptural forms and innovative cuts. Ellery is known for great materials that are developed in mills in Italy and Switzerland. Garments are then made in Ellery's hometown Sydney in Australia and shoes are made in Italy. In short, Ellery's ready-to-wear collections are easy, cool, and unconventionally luxurious comprised of architectural tailoring and fluid separates.
Almost every collection of Ellery is inspired by a particular artist, sculptor or filmmaker. Among those who have influenced Kym Ellery's designs are sculptors Constantin Brâncuși, Jean Arp and Alexander Calder, and painters Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly and David Hockney. Ellery's most famous shoe style, the Class Ankle Boot, has a heel that closely reminds of Constantin Bracusi's sculptures.
