Common Projects

Somewhere between a dress shoe and a sneaker. Plain undressed design with focus on intention and function. Nothing unneccessary. Common Projects has succeed to identify the intensity of minimalism by creating something recognizable from the unrecognizable.

Cult sneaker brand was founded in 2004 by brand consultant Flavio Girolami and former V magazine art director Prathan Poopat. Already back in 1990´s the team started to discuss about collaborative projects. Soon these two sneaker afficiados started to build together a sneaker brand of their dreams. The intention was to create casual minimalist sneakers with focus on quality and the purest essence of clean shoe design. To find the root of shoe design in its simplicity. There is something same to be found in their design philosophy that our great master Alvar Aalto followed through his career; To let the product to be what it is in its honest essence. If you are familiar with Common Projects original Achilles low in white you know what we are talking about. Throughout the years Achilles has been made in all the rainbow colours usually in smooth leather, suede or nubuck. Common Projects sneakers are best known from the serial number stamped in gold on the outside of the shoe. This is the only visible branding symbol for the label. The number displays every pairs style number, Italian size and leather colour. And for those who want it totally plain: The number can be rubbed off.

After the launch for the womens Achilles Low Woman by Common Projects collection has grown to fill modern womens needs in every occasion from high-top boots to sandals, derby shoes and slip-ons. Models like Achilles Mid and the new model New Court Low sneakers. And one model we really love this season: Chelsea Boots with crepe sole. Common Projects Crepe Chelsea has a beautiful close fitting silhouette and last. Crepe sole is the perfect choice for our nordic winter. Upper is made from smooth suede in warm Tobacco or Black.
