Church's

Minimalistic and timeless elegance which never goes out of style and models which have been around for over century. Design that crosses age as well as gender and skilled craftmanship recognized by the HM Queen Elizabeth II. That is briefly everything what the legendary English footwear manufacturer Church´s represents. Church familys shoemaking roots date back to the 1675. Ever since then the craftsmanship has been passed down through generations.

In 1873 Church's shoes was officially named for the first time by Mr Thomas Church and the factory was established in Northampton, a county near London, which has been the heart of a leather and footwear industry since the Middle Ages. Very fast, Church’s went from a small workshop into a respectable company for high-quality footwear throughout the British Isles. In 1881 they were the first to produce differently shaped left and right shoes the “Adaptable model” which is standard in footwear manufacturing today. In 1921, Church’s opened its first boutique in London and introduced the brand’s first women shoes. In the beginning of the second millenium, in the year 1999, Church´s merged and was taken over by the Prada Group and expanded the line with more contemporary and seasonal styles beside the traditional ones. Italy is now Church's second largest market after the UK. And also the financial centres in the Far East have adopted Church's following the brand's strong retail expansion.

As the shoe factories in Northampton have collapsed over the last 40 years, Church's has expanded. They have bought many of the production facilities and still remain in Northampton, employing 1 800 people. Church's success has a lot to do with the power of its brand, synonymous with high-quality black brogues worn by Englishmen (James Bond film reveals a pair on the feet of 007 actor Pierce Brosnan). The production cycle for a pair of Church's shoes can range up to seven to eight weeks. The Goodyear method also allows for a total reconditioning of the shoe and not just for the sole. Even the most worn footwear will come back to life with the comfort of an experienced shoe that has been broken in.
