French label A.P.C. (shorten for Atelier de Production et de Creation) has been producing polished classics with modern touch since 1987. Originally this French ready-to-wear brand became known from their clothing line for men. Tunish born designer Jean Touitou designed the line to consist of updated and refined wardrobe essentials such as button-down shirts and jeans in raw selvage denim. The brand was launched as a reaction against the ostentatious fashion that was all the rage in Paris in the end of 1980´s. Clean lines and sleek simple patterns. Specially the denim line, made from Japanese denim, has been highly valued among denim aficionados. Characteristics of military garments builds the basis for every A.P.C design creating a unique utilitarian ensemble to every garment, shoe and bag they make.
Today designer Jean Touitou participates in different creative projects beside his main work as a president for A.P.C. He has lately opened a school in Paris and is also working for diffenrent cooperations for A.P.C. Such as a collection of special edition band t-shirts. Mr Touitou has mentioned in one interview that "We make noise, not clothes" - This effectively sums up his primal idea behind the brand. In 2010 A.P.C. launched a sympathetic quilt project. The aim was to use left over materials from the past seasons and to make quilts in Amish tradition from the materials during their 23 year history.
